Rebecca Dockendorff Signs Letter of Intent to Play for the Jackets

Lamoni, IA- Danville High School product, Rebecca Dockendorff, has recently signed on to play college volleyball and continue her education at Graceland University. A talented setter and two year varsity captain at DHS in Danville, Iowa, Dockendorff is the first official signing for the 2007-2008 season for head women’s volleyball coach Stew McDole.

Standing at 5’7” and a versatile athlete, Dockendorff brings with her a wealth of volleyball experience as well as many athletic and academic accolades. While at Danville, Dockendorff averaged 5.5 assists per game and led the Bears in total assists. Not only a steady setter, Dockendorff also tallied over 100 serve aces during her junior and senior seasons.Dockendorff also was named to the All-Conference listing in both her junior and senior campaigns for volleyball.
A veteran coach of over 25 years at Graceland, head coach Stew McDole knows a solid player when he sees one. “Becky has found her way to Graceland through a cycle of friends and alumni who believed that mutual interests would be well served by a decision to spend her college years here. Her signing was like a reunion in the best sense of the extended Graceland family. She is a quality student and a dedicated athlete. Becky is a player to watch as I expect her progress to be immediate and substantial,” continued McDole.
Dockendorff competed on the volleyball club level for Tom Ferguson of the Great Rivers Juniors Club 17’s Navy team.
A fine all-around athlete, Dockendorff lettered in basketball, track, and cheerleading in addition to volleyball participation. Her activities didn’t stop with athletics however as she was also heavily involved in 4-H, band, show choir, the speech team, and was also the secretary of her school’s teen council.
“I’m so excited to be coming to Graceland next fall,” said Dockendorff. “The team was so nice when I came to visit and it’s great to be joining a program with such a great reputation.”
Currently ranked ninth in her senior class, Dockendorff is a member of the National Honor Society and has been named to the DHS honor roll since her freshman year.
Once on campus next fall, Dockendorff plans to pursue a degree in computer science with a possible minor in political science.
Rebecca is the daughter of John and Sandra Dockendorff.
