Sports Information Director - Assistant Men's Basketball
Matt Shelton begans his third year as Director of Sports Information at Graceland University and his first year as Assistant Men's Basketball this fall. Matt came via Lamoni High School where he spent two years as a Special Education Instructor and the Director of Athletics.
Experience: As a student at Graceland, Matt spent five years as the PA announcer for Graceland athletics, and also helped with statistics for the various sports programs. Following graduation from Graceland in 2001, he spent six years with the Lamoni High School men’s basketball program, four as the Head Coach. After teaching three years in Special Education at Clarke Community Schools in Osceola, IA, Matt got a job at Lamoni Community Schools as a Secondary Special Education instructor, and the Athletics Director.
Education: Shelton earned his bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Secondary Education. In 2005 Matt returned to Graceland and earned his Endorsement in Secondary Special Education. Currently he is working on his Masters Degree in Athletic Administration from California University of Pennsylvania. He'll complete it in August of 2010.
Personal: Matt Shelton and his wife Amber along with their two children Hailey (6) and Trevor (3) reside in Lamoni and are both originally from Lamoni.
