Assistant Coach Alex Tomascin
Alex is entering her second year as an Assistant Coach for the Women's Varsity Soccer team and she will be focusing on goalkeeping.
She was the starting goalkeeper for the Jackets in 2006 and 2007 and earned a record of 31-3-2 while posting 15.5 shutouts in 36 games played. Alex is a proud member of two HACC championships in a legacy of five championships and is a decorated player. In both 2006 and 2007 Alex was named 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-Region and NAIA All-American Honorable Mention. As well, in 2007 Alex was named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Prior to Graceland, Alex played for Brock University of the Ontario Universities Athletics Association and posted three starts late in the season of her freshman year, and was part of a nationally ranked 3rd place defense.
While coaching in 2008, Alex led her keepers to a 0.54 GAA as well as an overall 19-1-2 record with the only loss happening at the Elite Eight round of the 2008 NAIA National Tournament verses the #1 ranked Lindsey Wilson College. Also, starting keeper Leslie Danner was named 2nd team All-Conference and led her team to a fifth consecutive undefeated HAAC Championship title and a NAIA 7th place ranking.
Alex received her goalkeeper training from several clinics and various clubs throughout Southern Ontario including West Lincoln, Grimsby, Burlington and Hamilton. Alex also perused her soccer career with the London Gryphon's who participate in the W-League of the United Soccer Leagues (USL) in 2008.
Alex hails from Smithville, Ontario, Canada and is the daughter of Heather and Michael, sister to Carolyn and Mike. Alex currently holds an Associate's Degree in Hospitality with a focus in Hotel & Restaurant Management from Niagara College in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada. In her 4rd year at Graceland, she is majoring in Physical Education and Health with a minor in Health and endorsements in Secondary Education 5-12 and Coaching.
