Alumni Forum Minutes
Graceland University Homecoming
October 10, 2009
Alumni board President Michael Lewis welcomed everyone to the forum. He thanks Frank Perez and the Graceland University Pep Band for their music.
Michael asked the current Alumni Board members in attendance to stand and introduce themselves. Members present were: Sidna Adams, Katie Arnold-Clow, Howard Booth, Karla Fennick, Kathryn Lysinger, Barbara Mesle, Sherry Newcom, Scott Ourth, Becky Shalley and Joe Shelton. The candidates from the board running for re-election are Katie Arnold-Clow and Adam Smith. Dan Hanton and Senada Adzem are new alumni board candidates who were present. Melissa “Bubby” Lewis, the fifth candidate, was unable to attend due to work commitments.
Graceland University President, John Sellars, welcomed everyone to homecoming and updated them on what is new on campus and in planning for the future. He made special note of the dedication of the Resch Science and Technology Hall that immediately followed the meeting. President Sellars then introduced Board of Trustees Chair, Ken McClain, who shared some remarks about the state of the university and thanked President Sellars for his leadership.
Nancy Wallace identified this year’s Alumni Endowed Scholarship recipients: Autumn Wellington, Leah Wheeler and Colby Connely. Colby was playing the soccer match and could not attend. Autumn and Leah addressed the group about their studies at Graceland, their other involvements, and each then thanked the Alumni Association for their scholarship support.
Michael Lewis reminded the body that this was their official meeting and that anyone could bring business before the group. He called the business meeting to order. There was no old business or new business.
He then reminded people to attend the dedication and to consider purchasing prints of downtown Lamoni in order to contribute to the scholarship fund.
Michael adjourned the meeting.
