We are thrilled to report that
was raised during our #Grateful4Graceland Day of Giving!

Tuesday, March 22, 2016, was our first Day of Giving to Give and Share.  We asked alumni and friends to reflect on their Graceland experience, express what they were grateful for on social media and make an appreciation gift.  The results were amazing!

We were able to offer matching challenges during the day to multiply the gifts.  This made a big impact on the number of donors that made a gift and the amount they donated.  THANK YOU to our Matching Challenge pool of donors:

  • David '75 and Karen Booth '76 Jewell with their matching employer
  • Dean '53 and Soon Ja Limric
  • Bill and Goldia Strong '67 Mustain with their matching employer
  • Jay '64 and Cherry Phelps '65 Newcom
  • Ron '61 and Pat Gabrielson '64 Trachsel
  • Mike Wiley '83 and Dana Cochran-Wiley '82 with their matching employer

Here are a few of the many posts from Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

There was a lot of activity going on in the MSC Main Room on the Lamoni Campus from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. including a Shoot Hoops contest, Pool Pocket Shoot contest, and Hula Hoop contest. Students won all of the contests with 11 consecutive baskets and 18 consecutive pool balls in a pocket! There were 4 people that hula hooped for more than an hour with the winner going 1 hour and 47 minutes! Houses paired up to compete in a Treasure Hunt to look for items that have been donated to Graceland.  Powell and Hanthorne houses won the competition. Independence campus joined in the fun in between classes at lunch and dinner times. All of the events could be viewed online through a live internet broadcast with Paul J. Davis as the emcee.  There were interviews of student leaders, faculty, and staff plus performances by the choir, jazz band, orchestra, cheer and Gadets.  Sting was on hand for photo opportunities.  It was a great day!

Thank You!

You never know what to expect when you try something for the first time.  With the help of Graceland's alumni, friends, faculty, staff, students, and community members we can say that our first #Grateful4Graceland Day of Giving was very successful!  It was a very fun day seeing why you all were #Grateful4Graceland and to see all of the activity in the MSC Main Room and online!  We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did!  Thank You!
