Library Services Available To Campus Based Program Students
We are pleased that you have chosen to enroll in Graceland's Campus Based Program. We want to provide you with access to the library services that you need to be successful students.
Research Resources
Off campus students have access to many research databases to assist them with class assignments. The links on the left side of this screen allow you to search book catalogs, periodical article databases and reference databases. You may access any of the databases listed if you are a current student with a valid ID. If you have any trouble gaining access please contact Francis Acland (see contact information below)
Finding Books
If you wish to find out what items are owned by graceland you can search Libbie, Graceland Online Library Catalog. If you find Items in Libbie that you would like to borrow, please contact Betsy Folkins (see contact information below)
If you don't find what you need in Libbie we have larger book catalogs available for you to search. They are listed under the link Library and Book Catalogs on the left side of this screen. WorldCat is a particularly helpful database as it lists the contents of libraries accross the country. If you find items in WorldCat or other library databases that you would like to borrow, please contact Betsy Folkins and let her know what you are interested in. We can usually borrow items from other libraries throught the interlibrary loan system and send them to you. You are responsible for shipping borrowes items back to use by the due date.
Finding Periodical Articles
We have many databases available that allow you to search for periodical articles (articles published in journals, magazines and newspapers) If you choose the Periodical Article link on the left side of the screen you will see a list of periodical databases. Some of these databases (e.g. Academic Search Premier, MasterFile, Lexis Nexis) provide full text articles, others provide abstracts, or summaries, of articles (e.g. PsycInfo, Social Science Abstracts). If you want to get a copy of an article that you find in one of these databases you should contact Betsy Folkins (see contact information below).
Interlibrary Loan
As you search in our databases you may come across items that are not available in full-text format. We can usually obtain these items from other libraries through our interlibrary system.
If you are searching in a FirstSearch database (such as WorldCat or ArticleFirst) you can generate an order for any document you have displayed by clicking on the "ILL" button at the top left of the screen. If you are searching in an EBSCOhost database, (Such as Academic Search Premier or MasterFile) you can generate an order by clicking on the link that reads "Request this item through interlibrary loan".
