I am tenured faculty and serve as Graceland School of Nursing’s FNP Program Coordinator. Currently, I am lead instructor and teach Advanced Practice Roles & Issues and the Final Advanced Practice Practicum in the MSN Program, and Policy & Regulation for APNs in the Doctoral Program. I am in my 11th year teaching for Graceland and was honored in 2015 to be nominated by students for the “Teacher of the Year” award.

I began my medical career as a medical receptionist, then med tech. I continued with my Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Master of Science in Nursing-Family Nurse Practitioner (MSN-FNP) and finally, my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Alabama Birmingham in August, 2010. I am proud to have graduated with both my BSN and MSN-FNP from Graceland.

I have been practicing as a Licensed Family Nurse Practitioner for 18 years in the areas of public health, women’s health, student health and family practice. In addition to teaching, I currently work as a Family Nurse Practitioner in a College Student Health Clinic two days a week and prn at a Women’s Health and Surgical Center.

My husband and I have been married for 51 years and are both natives of Sweet Springs, Missouri. We have been blessed with three wonderful sons and daughters-in-law, who have given us seven amazing grandchildren. We are fortunate that all of us live within a two-mile radius, go to the same church, and the grandchildren attend or have attended the same elementary/high school as their fathers and my husband and I. Needless to say, we enjoy lots of fun family times together!

For recreation, we enjoy our place at the Lake of the Ozarks, ride UTV’s on trails on our farms and enjoy traveling and vacations together. In our younger days, we enjoyed riding horses, snow skiing, snowmobiling at our Wyoming cabin, tractor pulling, 4-wheeling, boating, and water skiing. As a family, we have tried raising catfish, harvesting sap and making maple syrup, raising bees and harvesting honey, and making elderberry wine, among other crazy things. We row crop our farms, raising corn, wheat and soybeans and have a small cow/calf operation. My husband is retired from Yellow Freight, but is still active in farming. I love teaching and have no plans to retire at this time.
