Carol Widner, MSN, RN-BC, is adjunct clinical faculty for Graceland University’s School of Nursing. She assists in both health assessment and fundamentals of nursing labs. Additionally, she oversees junior nursing students during their clinical hours in the hospital for Fundamentals of Nursing and Adult 1 & 2 Nursing.

Carol enjoys working alongside all her students and teaching them what real bedside nursing is all about. Observing the growth each student demonstrates during their first 12 months of nursing school is fulfillment for her.

Carol completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Graceland College in 1981 and earned a Master of Science in Nursing from University of Phoenix in 2009. She began as adjunct faculty for Graceland University in 2008. Her goals as adjunct faculty are to educate the nurses of the future:

  • To be smart, knowledgeable and safe bedside nurses of the future.
  • To, when in doubt, ask for help.
  • To know their limitations.
  • That getting their hands dirty is learning and putting the theory into practice. One learns best from practice, repeated exposure and mistakes.
  • To document everything.
  • On time management.
  • To have fun while learning.

Carol is an American Heart Association BLS instructor and instructor trainer. When not teaching, Carol finds herself enjoying her free time with family and her six grandchildren, whether on a family vacation or at their lake house at Lake of the Ozarks. Carol enjoys cycling, long walks and playing pickle ball.
