visual communication

The major in Visual Communication is a combination of the traditional visual arts with computer aided graphics. Visual Communications is the manipulation of type, image, color and shape in order to convey a message. The primary objective of the major is to prepare the student for work in the graphic design field. Students should learn that design is not just decoration but rather the visual solution to a conceptual problem. Courses that the student will take range from drawing and printmaking to typography and website design. Logos, package design, newsletter and magazine layouts are just a few of the types of projects a Visual communication major will experience.
