The Division of Health and Movement Science includes majors that relate to the health and well being of individuals within the context of social development. All the division majors are grounded in the liberal arts and incorporate theory with extensive internships, fieldwork and practical applications related to their specific disciplines. Graduates have entered careers in healthcare, parks management, physical fitness training, coaching and teaching. Students may pursue graduate study in areas such as administration, education, physical therapy, counseling or social work.

The Recreation Major prepares students to program and utilize leisure time in creative and meaningful ways. In additon to the core requiremets, students work with an advisor to plan a 12 semester hour emphasis related to their intended career areas such as administration, athletics, natural resources, or therapeutic recreation. Students also complete 12 semester hours of field experience in a professional setting. Graduates are prepared to respond to the challenges of a society in which recreation has become a major industry.
