Bio: Dr. O'Daniels earned a bachelor's degree from Graceland and then continued her education, earning a master's and doctorate in Health and Safety from Indiana University.
After teaching in secondary and post-secondary institutions, Phyllis returned to Graceland in 1986. She taught for a year, then served as the Director of Educational Talent Search for 10 years before returning to teaching full-time. She served as the first chair of the Division of Health and Movement Science.
In addition she serves Graceland and the Heart of American Athletics Conference as the Faculty Athletics Representative to the NAIA. In 2000-2001 she was awarded the Charles Morris Administrator of the Year Award for the NAIA.
Phyllis and husband Gary are parents of Emily and Sean. All four are Graceland alumni. Granddaughters Molly and Allyson are future Gracelanders.
