Leadership & Skill Development

Leadership & Skill Development

Leadership skills within each ministry area will be developed through a variety of educational opportunities as well as experiences on campus and within the local Mission Center.

Educational Opportunities

The following is a list of educational opportunities students will have throughout the school year, in addition to coursework for the Church Leadership Minor:

· 1 Orientation each semester

· 1 in-depth training event each year in their area of focus (10-15 hours)

· 1 Fall Retreat

· 1 Spring Retreat

· Weekly meetings with other students who are also focusing in their ministry area, along with a team leader who serves as a mentor in that particular area. These meetings would include time for being exposed to various skills not covered in other ways and to help students gain practical, hands-on experience in their ministry area.

Additionally, students are required to have one CCLP approved Winter Term, and one summer internship experience with the Community of Christ or related institution by the end of the four years in the program.

Experience

Students will meet weekly with the people in their ministry area, forming Ministry Teams. Teams will be facilitated by a mentor from a local Mission Center. Throughout the semester, ministry teams will work together to gain hands-on, practical experiences in their area of focus. Each student is expected to be engaged and involved in the activities their team is working on.
