1967 Roger Hershey served in the Judge Advocate General's Corps, Naval Reserve, from 1970-74, and was stationed as a member of the staff of the Commandant, Ninth naval District, Great Lakes, Il. He lives in Independence, MO. (roger.hershey@park.edu) Cal McDole just retired this year after 36 years in the Army and Kansas National Guard. He spent three years on active duty, one of those years in Vietnam during the war. He has flown a number of different helicopters; in Vietnam he flew combat missions, ferried VIPs, and even moved USO entertainers around the country. He has logged 5,400 hours of flight time in six aircraft. He lives in Independence, MO. (816-795-8903) Jim McDonald served 23 years in Naval Intelligence, on active duty from 1968 to 1972. He served a tour of duty in Vietnam from 1970 to 1971 as a NILO (Naval Intelligence Liaison Officer) attached to Army Advisory Team 92, working with Navy river patrol boats on the Saigon River. He has fond memories of occasional meetings with other Gracelanders, Hal Davis, Cal McDole, and Rex Sandage, during the Vietnam war in Saigon. From 1971 to 1972 he was attached to NORAD (North America Air Defense) in Colorado Springs, coordinating military defense exercises. Reserve experience included trips to IPAC, Hawaii, and numerous trips to the Pentagon and DIA in Washington, DC .He lives near Buckner, MO. ((MacDonald.Jim@epa.gov)) Donald J. "Don" Wiley served in the Navy from 1969-72 and then the Naval Reserve from 1972-94. He served aboard the destroyer USS Chevalier and then a destroyer squadron, both in waters off Vietnam during the war. He worked with electronics materiel and also in intelligence and security. Aboard the Chevalier, they did shore bombardment and followed carriers around for safety. He got to see Japan, Hong Kong, the Philippines and many other places. He suffered from sea sickness for the first day or two when the ship left port, then he was okay. The destroyer would be lost to sight of those on carriers when it dipped below the swells. In his reserve years he worked with communication units. He worked with a mobile communications team, handling com for the Navy SEALS. He lives in Murrietta, CA.
