Samuel E. Anderson served in the Navy from 1943-46, in the Sea Bees and then in the Navy's Amphibious Forces as a ship fitter. He was trained by the Marines for assault landings and came ashore on Okinawa before the Battle was won in July 1945. He lives in Flora, IL. (sameandy@wabash.net)

Arnold F. Van Den Bosch served in the Air Force from 1952-56, as a Nuclear Weapons Mechanical Technician. He lives in Cerritos, CA. (vansrib@aol.com)

Paul M. Edwards served in Korea during the war for 18 months, assigned to a fire direction center with a field artillery unit where they received Intel from forward observers, aligned the 155mm Howitzers and set firing orders. Raymond E. "Ray" Hogue served in the Army Medical Specialists Corps from 1955-57. Ray has been a physical therapist for many years and that's what he did in the Army. Stationed at Ft. Gordon, GA, he treated injuries, worked on knees, backs and fractures and helped with rehab after someone suffered a stroke. He also worked with Korean War vets who were suffering from continuing problems. Ray was active in the Reserves until 1963. He lives in North Richland Hills, TX. (ranhogue@netscape.com)

Marven L. Jones served in the Army from 1955-57 in the Army Security Agency, working with linguists, intercepting classified information behind the Iron Curtain. He was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. He lives in Bourbonnais, IL. (815-933-8928)

Wardell R. Schoff served in the Army from 1952-54. He was stationed in Korea during the war and worked as a mechanic in the motor pool. He repaired vehicles and helped shuttle them to and from the front. He lives in Hamilton, MO. (816-583-4439)

Kenneth L. Simpson served in the Army from 1955-57. He did clinical chemistry work at a medical lab at Ft. Carson, CO. He lives in Independence, MO. (kenbetsimpson@juno.com)

Ronald Tyree was drafted into the Army on his birthday in 1957. After basic training he was assigned to the 9th Division Band in Ft. Carson, CO and then to the 7th Army Symphony Orchestra in Germany - he was one of the principal bassoonists. "Our mission was to enhance cultural ties between the U.S. and our former enemy, Germany." He and the orchestra performed for German citizens in stately concert halls and small-town auditoriums all over West Germany. They also played in France, Belgium (the 1958 World's Fair), The Netherlands, Italy ("in a Roman amphitheatre") and Berlin ("before the Wall went up.")
