1949 Alma R. Blair served in the Army and was stationed in Korea during the war - 1951-53. Alma was a troop information and education specialist with the 7th Infantry. He worked with soldiers to help them further their educations. He also taught courses on how U.S. personnel could teach English to Koreans attached to the US Army. He lives in Lamoni, IA. (alblair@grm.net) Harold Fowler served as a WW II Naval Aviator, was called up to serve again during the Korean War, making amphibious landings at Inchon and Pusan, and served again during the 1961 Berlin buildup, as active air support. He lives in Del City, OK. (405-677-9728) Elias K. "Benny" Kaawakauo served for 27 years in the Army, including service during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was in the Airborne Infantry, "a parachutist," he said. He lives in Mesa, AZ. (480-839-6234) Charles Z. Renfroe served in the Air Force from 1951-53, as an aviation cadet. He trained to be a pilot in Sherman, TX, Columbus, MS and Big Spring, TX until word came that the Korean War had ended and pilots were not going to be needed. He lives in Hearne, TX. (979-279-5017) John M. Wallace served in the Marine Corps from 1946-47 and from 1951-71 in the Army Reserve and National Guard. Two years before the anti-war riots at Kent State University, Wallace notes that he was on guard duty one night at a college in Jefferson City, MO when a small group under his command was threatened by a mob of students. "Jim" White served in the Army from 1951-53 as a percussionist in the Army Band where he frequently played with the 'Dixie Division' Band and General "Hollywood Harry" Collins' 'Private Bagpipe Band.'
