1940 Benjamin Fleet served in the Navy during WW II on a combat icebreaker, surviving submarine attacks and many harrowing experiences. He is now 86 years old and writes: After returning to the states from the ice and snow of the North Atlantic I was immediately sent to the Port of San Francisco and duty on a ship working out of Perth, Australia. In the final days of WW II we were sent to a point 900 miles west of Perth where drifting rafts had been seen in the Indian Ocean. We rescued 98 human beings from the jaws of death after having their ship torpedoed and sunk in the shark-ridden, warm waters, having spent six days on life boats with no water or food. Benjamin has some great stories to tell so email him. He lives in East Sandwich, MA. ((bendfleet@adelphia.net)) Charles R.
