Wasted? is an art exhibition sponsored by Graceland's Art Seminar class. There is an open call for entries to all Graceland students and employees, as well as Lamoni residents. The show will be judged by the Art Seminar class, meaning that all pieces entered may not be displayed in the final show.
Wasted? is meant to make people think. In essence we are taking ideas and objects out of their original context and giving them new life. We live in a society that does not often put value on something once it has reached its initial purpose. We look down on things that are old and toss them away. Wasted? is meant to take those objects, ideas, and photos that are old and forgotten and give them new life in a creative and beautiful way. Everything has beauty; sometimes it just takes a little work and fresh ideas to find it.
Procedure: Submissions must be actual artworks and follow the theme. Complete Identification Labels for your artwork (will be located in Shaw Center Gallery) and make sure to attach to the back of 2D works or bottom of 3D works. All work must be delivered to the Shaw Center Gallery by Friday, October 24, at 4 p.m. Late artwork will not be accepted. Submitted pieces must be prepared for display and complement your piece and its meaning. All wall hung art must be prepared to install with proper hanging devices secured. 3D work must be stable or secured to a base. Wet paintings or other works will NOT be accepted.
Calendar: Wednesday through Friday, October 22 - 24--Deliver all entries to Shaw Center Gallery from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

*October 31: Opening Reception
*Friday, November 21: Artists must pick up work from Shaw Gallery by 5 p.m.--the University will not be responsible for artwork left after this date
