AmeriCorps Program Directors

Graceland has hired two individuals to be co-directors of Graceland's AmeriCorps program, which was funded with the assistance of grants from the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service and the Dekko Foundation. Shirley Kessel and Jodi Haley took over director responsibilities on September 1.

To quote Sharon Smith, Dekko Foundation Director, this program has great "potential to open so many doors for young people in south central Iowa." Graceland, Dekko, and the AmeriCorps program will allow youth in a six county region to be "exposed to culture, ideas, entrepreneurship, and hope." Youth will also become more acquainted with the many educational opportunities offered by Graceland University.
