This program is designed for students who already possess a master’s degree in nursing and who wish to increase their knowledge base and skills to teach adults in a collegiate or health care setting. Students who complete this program will not earn a graduate degree but will earn a postgraduate certificate.
This certificate is becoming more important as an increasing number of educational institutions and states are requiring formal documentation of nurse educator academic preparation for their faculty positions.
The certificate program requires the completion of four courses for 12 semester hours. There are two starts a year in January and August. Students that start in January will complete the program by December (there are no summer courses). Students that start in August will be able to finish their program by the following May.
