Samantha Goodman Plans to Suit Up For Jackets in the Fall

Lamoni, IA- Graceland University women’s volleyball coach Stew McDole continues to stockpile talented recruits for next fall including the signing of Samantha Goodman to a national letter of intent. Goodman hails from Hesperia, California and will compete as an outside hitter.
A product of Sultana High School, Goodman stands at 5’8” and possesses the necessary skill set to compete at the collegiate level.
“Sami Goodman is the prototypical outside hitter,” said McDole. “You expect that a good outside hitter can hit the ball. She can hit the ball. You expect they can block effectively. Sami is a strong blocker. You want your outsides to be accomplished passers and diggers. She can dig and pass. Samantha has all the technical tools.”
McDole continued by saying, “She also has the personal attributes that suggest she will be the kind of team player that will help solve problems rather than creating them. Sami brings aggressive, physical play along with excellent training to the court. We are delighted to have her join our Graceland academic and volleyball community.”
Named to the All-Area first-team as well as SHS’s MVP during her senior season, Goodman brings an already strong resume with her to Graceland. Competing for high school coach Melanie Elliot, Goodman improved her game year in and year out.
Not only are the Yellowjackets getting a strong contributor on the court but also an established student in the classroom. Goodman earned dean’s list recognition as well as being named to the Sultan High School’s highest honor roll. Goodman plans to major in GU’s highly-respected athletic training program beginning next fall.
Goodman competed on the volleyball club level for the White Lightning Volleyball Club in which she played with for six years while also competing in track and field for Sultana High School.
Sami is the daughter of Ron Goodman and Wayne and Melanie Elliot.
