Flexibility and quality are key words in the vocabulary of any busy working professional who wants to move ahead by earning an advanced degree. Graceland University, with a long history as a residential school dating back to 1895, has been providing distance learning programs since 1988 to help students make their dreams come true. In fact, Graceland was one of the pioneers in online learning with one of the very first online nursing programs in the country. We saw the tremendous need that nurses had for wanting to advance their career while still being able to take care of their families and work. Online programs gave them the time and flexibility they needed.
Our online programs are designed with the needs of the student and the quality of their education closely intertwined. Obviously, the online platform allows our students the convenience of being able to login and do coursework anytime. Students’ ability to interact with each other and faculty is integral to online learning so we have designed all our programs to enhance communication and accessibility to faculty and to classmates. Our faculty places a premium on responding quickly and thoroughly to each group discussion or an individual student question. We supplement our online learning approach by having one to two short three or four day on-campus face-to-face sessions during each program. This allows our faculty to personally assess how our students are performing.
We consider our nursing faculty to be among the best educators in the profession. All our faculty have advanced degrees in nursing as well as doctorates and/or specialized certificates in their area of expertise. Many have won grants, published articles and authored book chapters which show their commitment to research and educational innovation.
