• Automated External Defibrilators (AED)

  In an effort to make campuses safer for our students, faculty/staff, and visitors, Graceland University has placed Automated External Defibrilators (AED) machines at all 4 corners of Lamoni campus and one on the Independence Campus. Look for these machines in the following locations on Lamoni campus:

  - Commons - on the west wall behind the checker station
  - Shaw Center - on the west wall in the foyer area outside the division office door
  - MSC - on the east wall outside the Post Office window
  - Library - on the north wall on the main floor by the copy machine

  Independence campus AED will be located on the main floor by the post office boxes.

  These machines are in alarmed cases to prevent tampering. A loud alarm will go off after the AED has been removed from the case. These machines are powered by batteries and will be ready to use 24/7. They are self explanatory and will tell you exactly what to do and when. We have quite a few employees and students that are trained on campus to use these machines. If you would like to be trained, please watch the announcements for future training to be offered free to campus.

• Youth Superbowl on Campus Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th

  The Pride of Iowa Youth Football League will be hosting their Annual Superbowl this weekend at Graceland University's Huntsman Field. Please join us in welcoming these communities to Graceland University.

• Band Concert Thursday featuring Brad Carr
  Thursday evening at 7:30pm in the Shaw Center for the Performing Arts the Symphonic Band and the Jazz Ensemble will present "Hello to Hollywood". The concert will feature music from the small screen to the big screen, both old and new. Special guest artist Brad Carr will be on hand to give a rousing rendition of the poem Casey At The Bat. This is certainly not one to miss! The concert is free to the public.
• Student Health 101

  Students, As a service to our students, we are providing a subscription to Student Health 101 for the 2008-2009 Academic Year. Student Health 101 is a monthly online health and wellness magazine just for college students and their families. Each issue contains valuable information that will help students make better decisions while in college, and can provide you with a better understanding of the health and wellness challenges that face today's students. Each month, you'll receive an e-mail with the latest issue of Student Health 101, along with the latest Parent Perspective, the families-only edition. Please take a few minutes to read the issues each month, as we believe they can be a valuable resource in understanding today's students. In the September issue of Student Health 101...

• Student Time Entry Due Date Changed
  Student time entry will be due on Friday, October 17 since students and faculty will be on fall break Monday, October 20. Supervisors, please have all time approved by Noon.
• Dr. Bartholomew appointed to Iowa Council on Physical Fitness and Nutrition
  On Friday October 10, Iowa Governor Chet Culver announced the names of the twelve appointees to the new Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Nutrition. Diane Bartholomew was one of the twelve. Congratulations Diane! This is a great honor for Diane and for Graceland University.   The Frederick Madison Smith Library will observe the following hours:

  Friday, October 17 - 8:00 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.
  Saturday, October 18 - 9:00 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.
  Sunday, October 19 - 1:00 p.m. - 9:45 p.m.
  Monday, October 20 - 8:00 a.m. - 9:45 p.m.
  Tuesday, October 21 - regular hours resume.
